Managing Observations in CBSE ExaminationOverview

The Observation module allows educators to group specific parameters (defined in the Observation Parameters section) into comprehensive evaluation categories. This structure is essential for tracking co-scholastic activities and student behavior according to CBSE standards.

Prerequisites
  • Observation Parameters: Ensure you have already defined your metrics (e.g., Discipline, Creative Skills) in the Observation Parameters module before creating an observation group.

1. Creating a New Observations

Follow these steps to build a new observations framework:

  1. Navigate: Go to CBSE Examination > Observations. The Observation List will load on the right side of the dashboard.

  2. Open Form: Click the [+ Add Observations ] button in the top-right corner to open the Add Observation modal.

  3. Define Header Details:

  • Name: Enter a title for the observations group (e.g., Term 1 Co-Scholastic).

  • Description: Provide a brief summary of what this observations covers.

Assign Parameters:

  • Select Parameter: Choose a predefined parameter from the dropdown list.

  • Max Marks: Assign the highest possible score for that specific parameter.

Multi-Row Management:

  • Add More: To include additional parameters in this group, click the [+] button to generate new rows.

  • Remove Row: To remove a specific parameter row, click the Red Cross [-] icon on the right side of that entry.

Save: Click the [Save] button at the bottom. The entry will now appear in your Observation List.


2. Editing an Observations

To modify the criteria or scoring of an existing observations:

  1. Locate Record: In the Observations List, find the entry you wish to update.

  2. Initiate Edit: Click the Edit button within the Action column.

  3. Update Details: Within the Edit Observation modal, adjust the names, parameters, or mark values.

  4. Confirm Update: Click [Save] to apply the changes to the Observation List.


3. Deleting an Observation

[!CAUTION]

Deleting an observation group will remove all associated parameter settings within that group. Proceed only if this observation is no longer required for reporting.

  1. Select Delete: Click the Delete button in the Action column.

  2. Confirmation: A Delete Confirmation modal will appear to prevent accidental data loss.

  3. Finalize: Click [Delete]. The system will remove the record and refresh the list.



Configuring Exam Grade in CBSE Examination

Overview

The Exam Grade module allows you to establish a standardized grading scale. By setting minimum and maximum percentage thresholds, the system automatically assigns the correct grade and remarks to students based on their performance.

Navigation Path

Go to: CBSE Examination > Exam Grade

1. Defining a New Grading Scale
  1. Open the Module: Click the [+ Add Grade] button in the top-right corner to launch the Add Grade modal.

  2. Basic Information:

  • Grade Title: Enter a name for the scale (e.g., Secondary Grading Scale).

  • Description: Add notes regarding the academic year or specific board standards this scale follows.

Configure Grade Ranges: Use the input fields to define the logic for the grading system:

  • Grade: Enter the letter grade (e.g., A1).

  • Max Percentage: The upper limit for this grade (e.g., 100).

  • Min Percentage: The lower limit for this grade (e.g., 91).

  • Remarks: Add a descriptor (e.g., Outstanding).

Add Multiple Tiers: Click the [+] button to create rows for the remaining grades (A2, B1, etc.) until the scale is complete.

Save: Click the [Save] button at the bottom . The scale will now appear in your Exam Grade List.


2. Editing Grading Criteria

If grading policies change, you can update existing scales without recreating them:

  1. Locate Grade: Find the relevant scale in the Exam Grade List.

  2. Edit: Click the Edit in the Action column.

  3. Update: Modify the percentages, grades, or remarks in the Edit Grade modal.

  4. Confirm: Click [Save] to apply the updates across the system.

3. Removing a Grading Scale

[!CAUTION]

Deleting a grading scale may leave existing marks without an assigned grade. Ensure no active exams are currently using this scale before proceeding.

  1. Delete: Click the Delete Button in the Action column.

  2. Confirm: When the Delete Confirmation modal appears, review the action and click the Delete button. The grade scale will be permanently removed.
